R I T U A L unveil a sparse, pulsating new track “Low Season” from their forthcoming EP
We’ve been somewhat enamoured with the sounds of R I T U A L since “The Fall” appeared over a year ago now. From its opening bars it was clear that the mysterious outfit was capable of beguiling, chilling RnB to align with their equally-impressive peers.
Since then, we’ve been treated to a generous helping of music with a wonderfully assured debut EP, which borrows its name from that attention-grabbing first release. And today, “Low Season” marks the first material from a follow-up extended player From The City To The Wilderness due to appear before the end of the year.
Once again, proceedings are lead by a gentle affected, beautifully weaving vocal which maneuvers tidily above sparse, pulsating synth pedals, metronomic percussion, bolstered by gentle layers of strings, which add to the delicate romance of the track.
Having enjoyed early support from the likes of Annie Mac and SOHN - who can be classed as one of those aforementioned peers - the new EP will mark a confident move forwards for the trio, as the band explain:
“The title itself describes the atmosphere and backdrop on which we make our music. The noise and pollution of the city where we live, the constant roar of modernity set against a stillness - the quiet of an intact and natural environment. This has had a big influence on the songwriting - our voices and instruments coming up against our computers and the noise of machines, is an essential theme of R I T U A L”.
