R I T U A L team up with Lisa Hannigan in beautifully solemn “Josephine”
Anonymity remains a powerful weapon in music and R I T U A L are building on the initial intrigue by maintaining the mystery of who exactly is behind this shadowy project. We still know very little about the UK outfit but the releases are proving more than capable of keeping our attention.
With “Josephine” - a song “about the feeling of being so closely connected to someone - paired with the deep fear of failing the relationship” - the electro-R&B newcomers develop the theme from their impressive early works as more intricate, flickering production works away beneath a typically immersive vocal.
Having worked with exciting up-and-comer Frances, they have now called upon the expertise of Lisa Hannigan - known for her work with Damien Rice as well as her acclaimed 2008 record Sea Sew - to add a beautifully solemn sultriness to proceedings.
Taken from R I T U A L’s forthcoming From The City To The Wilderness EP, “Josephine” may just be their most alluring release to date; their identity may be shrouded in mystery but their talent is very plain to see.
