Prides answer back in majestic style on "Away With The Night"
Glaswegian duo Prides prove themselves with the huge sound and epic synth-pop of "Away With The Night".
Following a string of singles released last year, "Away With The Night" is the most promising thing we've heard thus far from the forthcoming Prides record and the band - composed of Stewart Brock and Callum Wiseman - agree. It excels in its role as a pop tune and also doubles as an answer song, like an indie-pop version of Frankee's "F.U.R.B" to Eamon's "Fuck It".
Brock explains "sometimes you make mistakes, and those mistakes get really attached to you. Sometimes they write songs about you. Sometimes they say weird shit in the press about you. The only recourse is to go full 90's response track."
The instrumental form of the track began to take shape from an idea cooked up by Wiseman on a flight back from New York, but as Brock explains the lyrics didn't come until later. "We actually had the music for a while, and happened to be working on it the day that I read an interview about myself. The rest is history."
Continuing to work with long-time producer Lewis Gardiner, their full blown pop is yet to be comprised and "Away With The Night" packs an almighty punch.
