Visual artist turned singer/songwriter Postcard Boy is desperate for a little “Company”
The third and final single from the San Diego-based artist’s forthcoming EP hits even harder as lockdown lingers on.
Having started out his career in the creative industry as a photographer, working on visuals for brands, shooting with bands like LANY and YouTubers like Emma Chamberlain, Postcard Boy, aka Garrett Seamans made the leap into music from the comfort of his dorm room.
“Company” captures what it’s like to be lost. With the help of some adept autotune, the track’s hip hop inflections and overall melancholia create a woozy world where Seamans explores his own feelings of “loneliness and lacking a sense of belonging” – as he puts it.
“Although I wrote this song last summer, in the weird limbo period between high school and college, thematically it fits perfectly with the current quarantine situation and being away from any sort of human interaction” he explains.
Accompanied by a self-directed 360° interactive video Seamans walks down the Hollywood Boulevard where “[he] was just another random in the crowd with a selfie stick.” The visuals further hammer home the idea that isolation can be felt even when we’re not necessarily alone.
An expansive audio and visual adventure, Postcard Boy is at home creating tracks which explore complex emotions through every layer of his artistry.
