Port of Spain's dreamy new track "Machine" is guaranteed to leave you yearning for summer
Bondie Beach duo Port of Spain impress with new song “Machine”, a metaphor-laced pop song perfectly complemented by singer Amy Rose’s emotional vocals.
Hailing from Bondi Beach, Port of Spain have already impressed with debut offering “Blind”, attracting the attention of Australian tastemakers triple j, and securing their place as electronic pop's ones to watch. “Machine” takes the duo’s sound to a new level, with the driving clap of a drum sample pushing the song forwards, whilst the backing track evokes images of waves slowly lapping at the Australian coast.
The repeated refrain of “Your heart is a racing machine/You leave me messages and I wipe them clean” perfectly encapsulates the looping, electronic nature of “Machine”, but the duo still inject a hefty dose of summer warmth into their music, leaving “Machine” perfectly straddling the line between an electronic classic and a dreamy pop ballad, and evoking images of a Wish You Were Here postcard written for your first love.
