Porij uplift the sound of a situationship in "Lose Our Minds"
Porij prepare for a summer of festivals and a headline tour with the infectious, indulgent dance tune "Lose Our Minds".
After a rise over lockdown, four-piece Porij have never been more ready to step into the spotlight, and their trajectory shows it. Combining the insistent, genre-blending dance-pop tunes they’re sharing with their relentless DIY ethos, Porij are making good on the implications of the diet staple that inspires their name, and fast becoming a store-cupboard essential.
“Lose Our Minds” follows up the recent single “Figure Skating” and 2021’s Baby Face EP, as well as a slew of remixes that twist and turn Porij’s already intense sound. They’ve established a solid set of trademarks, but despite staying cohesive to their future-pop sound, they manage to push their blueprint with every release, and “Lose Our Minds” is no exception.
Though the lyrics are penned with a toxic, irresistible relationship in mind, the track’s sonic palette lends a whole different form of sensory submersion. Almost irresistible, their light-touch garage texture invites you to relax even as they interrupt themselves and build-out. Balancing retro synths with contemporary rhythms and timeless basslines, Porij crafts an intoxicating backdrop for the narrative.
"Lose Our Minds dives into a toxic relationship,” the band explain. “Both people know it's not a good idea but can't seem to stay away from the other. This song is all about leaning into that and watching as sanity melts away."
