Poliça reveal bittersweet pop jam "Lately", announce huge UK/EU tour
Poliça are sharing their swooning, shuddering semi-ballad "Lately" on Best Fit to celebrate their new tour news.
The Autumn tour includes their biggest UK headline show yet - at London's Roundhouse on 19 October. Tickets will be on sale from 26 February at 9am (though there's a fan presale from 24 February).
"Lately" is the latest preview of upcoming LP United Crushers, and joins up with "Wedding" and "Lime Habit" in giving fans a glimpse into Poliça's brave new world.
Poliça stir together trippy, trap-style beats with grand melodic gestures on "Lately". It's got all the grace of a loved-up pop classic, with cinematic sweeps and big, yearning vocals, but there's a scratchy skitter underfoot, plus an erratic synth jarring against the grain... all's not quite as it first seems. It's tense, on edge, and despite the utter gorgeousness on display, quite bittersweet.
Speaking about the cut, lead vocalist Channy Leaneagh says: "Don’t let love become a distraction. I want to be moved by my lover but not put in a lethargic state of apathy for doing anything else but be with another person. Love is a place where we make each other better and inspire each other to make cool shit."
United Crushers is out 4 March on Memphis Industries. It follows 2013's Shulamith.
Listen to "Lately" below. THe band's new UK/EU shows are afterwards.
