Pink Milk announce debut album with the enveloping gloom of new single "Awakening of Laura"
With covers of Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is" and folk standard "Drömmens skepp", along with their own track "Detroit", Swedish two-piece Pink Milk are back with the first track to be taken from their debut album.
Pink Milk are Maria (vocals, drums) and Edward (guitars, bass) and "Awakening of Laura", inspired by the 1894 ballet Awakening of Flora, is one of the songs to be found on Purple, due out in the autumn.
Not quite as heavy on the fuzz and feedback as previous songs, but "Awakening of Laura" booms with echo; Maria's doomy vocals and simple playing dominate the early stages of the song, creating a seductive darkness before the second half explodes in colour, a stark bloodiness conjured by Edward piling on layers of guitar noise. This is a weighty track, but also a sensual, tactile stirring.
