Perera Elsewhere first caught our attention with the Bizarre EP last month, and remixes from the likes of Hype Williams and Maria Minerva put her near the top of the pile when it comes to new and interesting alt pop/RnB at the moment.
Her new album Everlast is due out on 28 October and the latest single ‘Giddy’ has the the type of eerie acoustic drums you could hear tip tapped by the Vietnamese rebels during the final moments of Apocalypse Now.
Hushed inhalations of breath and minimalistic, effortless half whispered exchanges with male counterpart Gonjasufi make the song far more powerful and arresting than the decibel count would suggest. Stream below.
