"Fool Like Me" is a sweeping and majestically sad ballad from Penny Police
Following on from her "No Horizon" track, Danish artist Penny Police has delivered another moving new song.
On that previous single Marie Fjeldsted sung beautifully about political upheaval; here on "Fool Like Me" the turmoil feels a whole lot more personal.
With plucked harp strings alongside teardrop synths and sensitively clicking percussion, Fjeldsted sings lines like "where goes my heart / it's in your hands / just don't squeeze..." in a n almost rueful tone. As violins move gently over the latter part of the song, it's hard to escape the feeling that the Dane has been battered and bruised by life. Fjeldsted's plea for not to be left hanging - ironically - hangs in the air as the track comes to a sudden stop, a bid for resolution falling on deaf ears. "Fool Like Me" is a sadly beautiful song it's all too easy to identify with.
