Chill out then freak out with "Billy", the new hazy-pop cut from Belgian trio Pale Grey
"Billy" is the latest single from Belgium-based three piece Pale Grey. Beginning as subdued and synth-drenched, the track closes with a roaring electronica hurrah.
This new offering is the first to be taken from the band’s forthcoming Ghosts EP which is set for release next month. Showcasing their diverse sound, "Billy" begins life as a straightforward slice of dream pop lead by an evocative vocal performance, before drifting into darker territories, concluding with a nightmarish clamour of crashes.
The band explain "Billy" "depicts the portrait of a lost boy who will have to fight to find his own way by bringing into the light the gold he has in his hands. As the symbol of a contemporary youth. A youth full of potential but in which a embittered world forgets too often to trust."
Having spent a year or so holed up in their studio their time has clearly resulted in some remarkable music. Pale Grey are set to support Electric Guest on their upcoming European tour including a date at O2 Islington Academy, London.
