Listen: Palace - "I Want What You Got" [Premiere]
London four-piece Palace have been steadily building momentum all summer, making them a favourite of radio tastemakers and a growing audience. They look to continue that trend well in to the autumn with the latest teaser from their debut EP, “I Want What You Got”, premiering today on Best Fit.
The sleepy lead guitar line that forms the backbone of the song has a touch of the American South in it—it wouldn’t feel out of place on an Alabama Shakes or Kings of Leon record. Leo Wyndham’s vocals sound similarly effortless despite the complexity of the melody. All of this is artfully complemented by harmonics and counter-melodies from a second guitar that give all this airiness the perfect amount of weight.
The band said: "'I Want What You Got' was the first song we worked on together as a band. It's the song that really defines Palace's sound. The song explores feelings of jealousy and its power to take you over."
Palace’s debut EP Lost In The Night is set for release on 20 October via Beatnik Creative. Their UK tour kicks off with sold-out shows at London’s St. Pancras Old Church.
