Brighton's Our Girl soar on re-entry with new song produced with Bill Ryder-Jones
Our Girl re-introduce themselves with a blistering self-titled single as they kick off their hectic run of live shows with Pale Waves and Magic Gang.
By anyone’s standards, a self-titled single is a pretty headstrong gesture, and with the first release since their debut EP (which was, coincidentally, also self-titled), Our Girl prove that they have every reason to make sure their name is firmly imprinted on our brains and show that they continue to be one of the most exciting new bands around.
"Our Girl" is a grunge-pop face-melter of a return from the Brighton trio. It creeps in with a few seconds of calming guitar effects, but don’t be deceived, as it’s not long before they pound in with all guns blazing. With Bill Ryder-Jones jumping on the production side of things, it’s a track that packs a punch and manages to find a perfect equilibrium between Soph Nathan’s deceptively elegant vocals and the pounding power of the crashing guitars.
Speaking about the importance of the track, Nathan explains: “We ended up naming the band after it! So this song feels like the perfect re-introduction to everything we’ve got coming.”
If this re-introduction is anything to go by, Our Girl are in for an exciting year.
