Swedish alt-pop queen ORKID chooses not to “Lay Low” on her latest single
Having dropped a slew of tunes last year including "Nonoh" and "Hands", Swedish sensation Matilda Melin, best known as ORKID, is back with another pop banger on “Lay Low”.
Intricately wrapping her velvety vocals around the electronic beats, ORKID's blend of indie-pop is infectiously addictive. Her first release of 2019 mixes punchy pulses with her trademark sugary pop melodies, and features metallic clinks as an inventive and captivating addition to an already explorative record.
Portraying a rebellious nature, Melin says the track reflects her "getting to a point where I simply don't give a ---- and where I want to misbehave. I want to do whatever I feel like. I want to wake up in Vegas".
And with that attitude, ORKID does what she wants, when she wants and however the eff she wants, and makes damn good music to prove it. Polish her crown, she's the Swedish alt-pop queen.
