Australian collaborative project Ok Moon celebrates flaws on debut single “Loved You Right”
Reflective and illuminating, “Loved You Right” is the work of Dustin Tebbutt, Hayden Calnin, LANKS and Xavier Dunn: four established songwriters and artists who combine their musicalities together for their new project Ok Moon.
“Loved You Right” comes as the first single from the group, with an amalgamation of four male voices that blend so perfectly they could be mistaken for one. Built on top of a cinematic arrangement and led by piano, the track is bolstered by layered percussion that as a sonic seems raw and authentic and can be likened to their previous individual works.
“Lyrically, the song explores regret and getting stuck on the what ifs that can be attached to some relationships or past decisions,” say the band. “But as the song progresses it becomes more of an admission of your flaws, and celebrating them as it is only human to have them. It’s a sad yet comforting statement that maybe sometimes you are better off without someone, and accepting that is something you can grow from.”
Having been two years in the making, Ok Moon will be releasing their first album with the project as an alternation from their own solo projects, though following four trails of success.
