Manchester’s exotically-named Oceaán released his homonymous debut EP back in March. He's now announced his first ever dates, which kick off in France this October.
So it's fair to say Oceaán's been keeping fairly busy, and rightfully so, exploring even more complex sonorities and testing the grounds for new ways to deliver his cloudy musical angularity. Today, he's unveiled “Grip”, a taste of his latest bizarro interactions.
“Grip” starts off with Zen glass-like percussions that seem to hold the pace amongst sweeping sounds and an increasingly invasive electronic beat. Minimalistic keyboards also bleep away quietly as a modified vocal sample arrives with springy excitement. The track's increasingly intricate beats thump and ball into a hyper uplifting chiming of synths before slowly dissipating into unsettling syncopation.
We simply can't wait to see it all fall into place at his first shows.
