Listen: Novo Amor & Ed Tullett – “Faux”
Earlier this year, Cardiff-based Ali Lacey released the acclaimed Woodgate, NY EP under the moniker Novo Amor. Brighton-based Ed Tullett is in the midst of preparing his forthcoming dark electronic record, Fiancé. The two multi-instrumentalists merge their considerable talents with their new collaborative single, “Faux”.
Lacey and Tullett’s first joint venture is a seamless blend of acoustic and subtle electronic elements. The pair’s equally spellbinding falsetto voices create a palpable sense of movement as they whirl and reel to dizzying heights. Crisp guitar, towering swatches of distortion, and thudding drums bob and weave into the forefront as the song unfolds into unexpected territory. Picture the sunlit surface of a lake and the murky depths beneath. This track easily inhabits both of those spaces.
“Faux” is out now via Brilliance Records and Dumont Dumont. A full-length album of collaborative material from Novo Amor and Tullet is in the works.
