Nimmo careen towards oblivion as they cover Rui Da Silva's "Touch Me"
Nimmo have covered club staple "Touch Me" by Portuguese producer Rui Da Silva for their new series The Room 5 Sessions.
Last week we saw the arrival of Nimmo's take on "Realiti", one of Grimes' recent hit singles. MØ's big-hitting "Kamikaze" has also received the Nimmo treatment in recent weeks.
Da Silva's pulsing house number is ripe for Nimmo's touch. The London outfit dunk the beats in dystopian echoes, strap the synths with sci-fi swagger, and commandeer the vocal lines - it's certainly a more pensive rendition, injecting a complexity and a depth, but veins of euphoric gold streak through the mix. It's bittersweet, thrilling, and restless, with Nimmo careening towards oblivion in the closing moments.
Keep up to date with all the sessions on Nimmo's website. The website features additional visuals and pictures along with each session.
Explaining the series, the band say: “We've had our studio in Dalston for the last year and a half, and it's homed a lot of parties and great memories from writing and recording the album. We are so excited to share the cover series we wrote and recorded in this space - Room 5.”
Nimmo's next single will arrive soon. Their debut album is expected in 2017.
