Nilüfer Yanya's hot streak continues with contagious number "Baby Luv"
Nilüfer Yanya is back with effervescent charmer "Baby Luv", her first new material since the release of her Plant Feed EP over the summer.
"Baby Luv" starts out as just echoing strums and Yanya's vocals, but as the seconds tick by she jams layers and layers and layers on top, cranking up the cut until it's a rat king of earworms. It's lush and addictive with all the organic pop pep of '90s anthems from Rusted Root and Eagle-Eye Cherry (although it sounds nothing like either, obvs).
"I'm still working out what this song means exactly," says Yanya of her latest cut. "There's a lot of questioning going on, I keep asking myself the same question - but it has a different meaning each time I ask it and which I still don't have an answer for."
Yanya has a few dates in the UK, Europe, and North America scheduled for October and November, including a headline date at London's Omeara and a set at Iceland Airwaves festival. Find out more.
A press release states that Yanya "will announce a new project in the coming weeks", which is pretty exciting.
