
London quintet Night Flight unveil the intimate "Parade"
Taken from their forthcoming second EP Carousel, the new single marks a welcome return for the band following their acclaimed debut EP Wanderlust in late 2017.
Having already drawn comparisons with the mighty Fleet Foxes (and by their own recognition, influences including Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley – to name a few), "Parade" ushers in delicate, melancholy tones as vocalist and songwriter Sam Holmes pleads to an unnamed lover. "Hey there, how’ve you been in this world since I’ve fell out of yours?" Holmes inquires with an earnest croon, recounting his slow reassembling of identity post-relationship. "'Cause I don’t know how you are."
"['Parade' is] a conversation between ex-partners set some time after their break up,” Holmes explains about the track’s sombre tale. “While the motive is for cathartic reconciliation, it quickly turns into a passive aggressive back and forth of one-upmanship."
Night Flight needn’t be concerned about such competition in this arena however, as when it comes to their output they are truly singular.
