Nadia Nair fuses mantra, poetry and music on the arresting "Something Something Something"
Gothenburg's Nadia Nair hypnotises us on "Something Something Something", the first track from her debut album, Beautiful Poetry, due for release in the UK this April.
Set on a simple bed of simmering synth, Nair allows her vocals to bellow powerfully into the ether as if they know no bounds beyond the track's hushed electronics.
"I'm too high to drink / too high to think / hungry like a wolf / though I'm not with child", Nair thunders atop slowly evolving electronics interestingly devoid of rhythmic accompaniment.
The lyrics may be a little hard to decipher, but the startling contrast between Nair's loud howls and the music's subtlety make for a song that speaks louder than words.
