Watch: My Grey Horse - 'Days Shall Follow"
With their debut album, I Still Don’t Understand, set for release on 28 July, Midlands indie-rockers My Grey Horse have unveiled the video for the new single “Days Shall Follow”. Having hiked across the Welsh countryside, the band found themselves playing the soggiest performance of their live: soaked to the bone, thrashing out on their instruments, stood in a lake, water up to their waist.
Laden with a chirpy banjo strum, hollered harmonies and lively percussion shuffles, much of “Days Shall Follow” represents primarily what My Grey Horse have done so well in the past: creating pleasing, sunshine pop melodies combined with inquisitive, bittersweet lyricism. But just as the song reaches its logical climax, My Grey Horse submerge the song’s summery vibe and allow plaintive harmonies and tender piano melody to see out the rest of the track.
“Day Shall Follow” has set the tone for I Still Don’t Understand, an album which looks set to be filled with energy and enthusiasm, yet with a knowing nod to the fact that they are beginning to find their footing as musicians, songwriters and, more importantly, as individuals. It’s that final transition which is the most daunting transformation of all.
