MULIMBA recalls the importance of family in bold new single "Your Own Blood”

The follow-up release to last year’s striking debut single “DAMN”, former HAUS vocalist MULIMBA unpicks familial ties in new single “Your Own Blood”.

Underscored with a heart-thumping bass line, MULIMBA’s new single “Your Own Blood” comprehends the unconditional love you can feel for someone despite relationship tensions. Drawing upon soul and gospel influences, the track sees a new lease of life from the ex-HAUS frontman.

Written post-argument with someone close, "Your Own Blood" is a brooding tune that channels a dark nature to create a sharp, fiesty atmosphere. First appearing to be full of malice, the track unveils itself to, in fact, be a bold yet tender song about repairing and building upon relationships between people who clash heads. It’s a sublime outing that evokes emotion and reminds us to adore our loved ones even when we dislike them.

"'Your Own Blood' means the world to me,” shares MULIMBA of his latest release. "I wrote it the day after me and somebody very close to me had a very big argument. The argument started from something very little but then progressed into a personal verbal attack on each other.

"We made up the next morning and I walked straight into the studio knowing I wanted to write about what had happened that night before,” he continues. "This wasn’t the first time something like that had happened between us, but it was the first time I was able to address it and still see a positive. Even though I was still very hurt after we made up, I knew that nothing could ever break the amount of love we have for each other. I knew that if I needed them they would be there for me and vice versa, family is everything!"
