Morly details new In Defense Of My Muse EP, shares lead track "And Sooner Than We Know It..."
Recent Cascine signee Morly has announced the first of two upcoming releases, the In Defense Of My Muse EP.
Katy Morley, a Minnesota native, "abandoned academia and a sensible career in neuroscience" in order to concentrate on her first love - music. Her sonic experiments, noises that skirt ambient electronica, lo-fi pop and dreamy neo-classical music, are the result of two years of hard graft.
The first of these to emerge is "And Sooner Than We Know It...", a glassy, piano-led adventure into Sigur Rós-meets-Jon Hopkins sounds. Warm, deep, but ultimately fairly threadbare, the track demonstrates Morly's ability to do a hell of a lot with very little.
The In Defense of My Muse EP is out 14 August on Cascine.
