Sunshine-y shoegazers Moon Tapes share "Back In Love"
Moon Tapes describe the music they make as “sunshine pop”, which is perhaps the most accurate way to encompass their effortlessly uplifting sound.
The band hail from Amsterdam, and have been making music together since 2014. New single “Back In Love”, from their upcoming second EP, is accompanied by a video of singer Joep Meyer wandering through another European city; Charleroi. The dilapidated industrial cityscape provides a perfect backdrop to the song, described by the band as “a bittersweet and desolate disco ballad.”
“Bittersweet” is a good reflection of “Back In Love”’s leisurely pop sound, drenched in shoegaze-y guitars. The band cites inspiration from such classics as The Smiths, The Jesus And Mary Chain, and Serge Gainsbourg, all of which have audible but not overwhelming influence on Moon Tapes’ songwriting.
