Listen: Montreal Sex Machine – “Blackout”
GODMODE Records’ new house band Montreal Sex Machine stomp on to the scene with “Blackout”. Featuring an array of the label’s signees, these guys live up to their supergroup status on this scuzzy slice of eminently danceable rock.
The blend of warped (is that octave fuzz, I hear?) yet instantly catchy guitar lead and a wandering bass line give “Blackout” the sound of that last round of shots…that you’ll remember. Over all the sleaze, Mr. Dream’s Adam Moerder croons like a cross between Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age) and Luke Jenner (The Rapture), presenting the listener with a choice: cash out or blackout? I think we both know the night doesn’t end here.
Montreal Sex Machine’s debut 12” is set for release on 15 June. Their debut performance is scheduled for the same day at Muchmore’s in Brooklyn, New York.
