Canadian duo MONEYPHONE look back on their past lives with the syrupy glow of "Indecision"
Blending their love of hip hop with the evolving pop landscape, Toronto's MONEYPHONE share "Indecision", the first taste of their forthcoming explorative mixtape.
High school friends David and Enoch hit a sweet spot with their genre-defying experimental approach and on "Indecision" it feels like they've really hit their stride. The new single teases a mixtape Faith which is set to showcase more of the pair's growth. You can look back at the early days of MONEYPHONE by diving into their debut EPs Tolerance and Athletes and witness that progression for yourself.
Since graduating from college and embracing their DIY ethos, MONEYPHONE has grown into a collective community with additional creative inspiration coming from their friends who star the music video "Indecision". It really highlights the unstoppable power of friendship and moving together as a unit. The duo add "to have so many friends around us — and to make something so pretty, that feels like home."
One of the final tracks to be completed for the upcoming project and helped the pair claw their way out of a dark hole. Enoch explains "we were bogged down with management and personal issues and ["Indecision"] served as a beacon of light, a North Star to guide us. It let us know finishing the tape was a possibility & that was the key to figuring out how to make it out of what was weighing us down."
It's reflective tone really spoke to David who adds that "there's something special about being able to look back at my younger self fondly. For a while, I felt as though I had no direction. I would get up every day but the passion was missing. Now that’s different. I remember being out of the room at times when we were recording "Indecision". I was in the kitchen and I could hear Enoch rapping through the walls of our house. Moments like that make me the happiest. Music gives me control over my life, something I feel like I often have very little of. Music gives me freedom. Indecision makes me feel free.”
