LA by way of Washington DC trio make a swift follow-up to single "Superstitions" with the impeccably groovy "Penny".
"The real problem these days is that music has no groove", you may hear your parents bemoan. We've all heard this tripe before. Alright, Jagger may no longer be swaying his hips to 60's RnB on Top Of The Pops but there's still plenty of bands channelling hippy swag and infectious funk repurposed for today (Tame Impala, Jungle, Temples, Meanwhile). Step forward fellow revivalist purveyors Misun with their brand new track, "Penny".
"Penny" has irrefutable groove, splurging out on crisp-cut guitars and bubbly beats that keep singer Misun Wojcik's beautifully self-destructive vocals afloat. It's certainly more in keeping with the trio's throwback pop tendencies than the electronic-kissed sounds of their previous single, but with a song bearing so much satisfying stomp, retrograde might just be Misun's calling card.
Superstitions is released on 11 November. Pre-order here.
