Me Not You "Kill the Noise" and show softer edge on new B-side
Me Not You deliver intriguing synth-led power-pop on "Kill The Noise", the new B-side to last year's evocative debut "Bulletproof".
Their third release overall, "Kill the Noise" follows the grunge-inspired soundscape that was showcased on "Relief", but instead favours the more ethereal beginnings of its A-side, on which frontwoman Nikki's voice soars effortlessly. The spirit of angst and rebellion is still there, but it's all dialled down and subdued.
"We built 'Kill The Noise' from the ground up, layer by layer of sound," Nikki explains. "The lyrics came to me while I was on a beach in Costa Rica, in an elevated state of mind, and the music formed in much the same way in the studio. Not that it was auto-pilot, but the track assembled itself without much interference from our conscious brains. it's a really special song for us, since its creation felt really natural and intuitive."
Me Not You's Nikki and Eric began their musical lives as two of the three members of pop provocateurs Little Daylight, responsible for anthemic blog hit "Overdose". A stunning debut EP Tunnel Vision followed in 2013, and the band's first and final full-length record Hello Memory came in the summer of 2014. The Little Daylight name may not be dead in the water just yet, as the pair shared the old band's namesake's rework of "Bulletproof", which is a trip down memory lane for fans who remember the trio's work, which has since been scrubbed off the web.
