Matthew Logan Vasquez cranks up the soul on swaggering new single "Same"
Delta Spirit frontman Matthew Logan Vasquez reveals "Same", the latest taste of upcoming debut solo record Does What He Wants.
Classic soul meets indie rock on Vasquez's latest album preview "Same" - it's rugged and smooth in equal measure, with bold melodies and bright, ballsy instrumentation forcing toes to tap from the off. The track is packed to the brim with guts, and whether it's the scuzzy electro breakdown or the gospel-fuelled timelessness, Vasquez has you hooked with a swaggering charm.
The Californian artist is branching out all on his lonesome with the album, which documents personal encounters with "miseries of life" including "impatient landlords, lack of stability, and financial woes." Despite the heavy subject matters at hand, Vasquez remains upbeat - hope is another big part of his album.
