Matt Tong (ex-Bloc Party) and Alex Newport air "Gone Tomorrow", their debut single as Red Love
Matt Tong, the former drummer of Bloc Party, and Alex Newport have teamed up for a new band called Red Love, and they've unveiled their debut track together, "Gone Tomorrow".
Newport produced Bloc Party's Four, and has worked with a range of artists in his career as a producer/mixer, including At The Drive-In and Death Cab For Cutie. On the group's Twitter bio, they introduce themselves as "exploring the myriad possibilities of linking two Roland Space Echoes in Long Island City."
It's a narcotic departure from their work with Bloc Party, fusing psychedelic explorations in fuzz, '90s shoegaze and post-rock together. "Gone Tomorrow" is a vast 6-minute ode, peppered with dynamic shifts and complex knots of noise. It's rich with texture and promise.
There's no word on an official release date yet.
