Masasolo makes a bid for most laid-back song of the year with the psych-tinged "Ordinary Day"
Having dropped his debut single last year, Denmark's Morten Søgaard is back with a dreamy new single under his Masasolo moniker.
"Really Thought She Loved Me" was a more propulsive intro to the Masasolo sound, but brand new track "Ordinary Day" introduces a more relaxed version of the Dane.
Liquid guitar lines and light, jazzy drums give a sort of Tame Impala on downers feel, while Søgaard's sweet vocal adds an '80s blue eyed soul touch to "Ordinary Day". While there's beauty in the music and the voice, it doesn't hide Masasolo's anxiety about trying - and failing - to do the simplest of things. "I'd like to text you something sweet", he sings, before descending into a world of fretting and inertia.
There's more to come from Masasolo in 2017, but this is a very promising start.
