LA vocalist Marz Léon returns with emo-RnB slow jam “Soree”
It’s been more than a year since we last wrote about the prodigious Marz Léon. Since then the LA-born songwriter has tooled up her sound with a production sass and taken a massive vocal leap too.
“Soree” mines the same emotive space as Drake or The Weekend would if they were in a Very Bad Place (think Abel Tesfaye mid-Trilogy or Drizzy doing the walk of shame on a Sunday morning). “Someone can only promise you so much and never reciprocate until you’ve had enough to know its time to let go, understand your journey from it and move forward to greater moments,” says Léon, talking about the track. “We get stuck in situations that are hard to break free from at first. But we also have to remain strong and learn to break free from anything that is not promising to help us progress in our future.”
“You can only really be sorry to an extent, until it just becomes an excuse for not facing the truth of your actions.”
