Sweden's Maria Leck will leave you swooning with the symphonic majesty of "Adrenaline"
Hailing from Dalarna in Sweden, Maria Leck has a killer voice and an ear for a stunning composition.
Previous track "Lines" was a fragile affair with hints of grandeur, and her brand new track takes off from there. Beginning on rich reverb and swells of organ, "Adrenaline" takes an almost meticulous route to its endgame. Leck's delivery begins breathy, moves to a gorgeous high croon with unusually clear diction - and as it does the music rises and rouses. Twangs of '60s guitar meet drums which gather pace to a rumbling crescendo, and the song's incredible outro is a sweeping, moving and multi-layered marvel.
Leck tells us "It took me half a year to figure out what this song was about. First it was about how we teach girls how to dress when we should really focus on raising respectful feminist boys. And at one point it was about how much I wanted to quit my meaningless day job but felt trapped because I had such nice colleagues. It was just a piano tune I kept coming back to with no progress. Then one morning I woke up beside my sleeping boyfriend and I imagined what it would be like if he fell out of love. No drama, just a classic case of cooling emotions. These types of fantasies are probably the worst ones to grow. So I went out of bed and finished the song in one hour. When he woke up he or I didn't feel like breaking up but I finally completed the song. It's such a sad song and I love sad songs."
