Mabel unleashes dancehall-inspired pop cut "Begging" from surprise mixtape
Rising star Mabel McVey continues her ascent with an especially flavoursome taste of her forthcoming mixtape Ivy To Roses.
McVey's melodic R&B had us swooning from day one with the release of "Know Me Better" back in 2015. Since she emerged, she's made a name for herself with her soulful vocals, relatable lyrics, and her alarmingly cool sense of style. Her Bedroom EP features some of her best work to date including sleeper hit "Finders Keepers" and deep cut "Talk About Forever" with its video shot at the Tate Modern.
"Begging" is once again exceptional and precedes the release of McVey's debut mixtape, a collection of tracks which are set to showcase some different sides to the Mabel we're growing to love. McVey explains Ivy To Roses is “another piece of the puzzle. It’s collection of songs that I love and want the world to hear right now. This is only the beginning of my journey but I want people to feel part of the evolution of my music, which is why I’m putting another project out now.”
In terms of evolution and growth "Begging" certainly shows McVey continuing to take control and master her artistry as she paves her own path away from her parents' already established careers. Ivy To Roses will be her first full length release, a coming of age story, growing up and loving yourself and is out this Friday following her sold-out UK tour which reaches its climax at Heaven in London tonight.
