Sweden's Lune unveils the hypnotic dance-pop daydream "Healing Song"
Having made something of a name for herself featuring on the Swedish House Mafia track "Leave the World Behind", Stockholm-based singer Lune is forging her own musical path with a brand new single.
She's studied at the Royal Swedish Ballet School and is also an accomplished dancer and choreographer, but Lune's found her true artistic home on the stunning "Healing Song".
Beginning with gentle verses awash with ambient synths and Lune's tender vocal, the track launches into a technicolour chorus following the Swede giving in to temptation. As she sings "you're lying in a bed with me / but all I wanna see / is wicked fantasies", there's a delicious R&B-tinged drop surrounded by treated and filtered "ahhhs". It's a moment of exhilarating escape for Lune, and one filled with an awareness of the need to look after number one...in any way she can.
This "Healing Song" comes with a routine which should be done whilst listening to the track. It's demonstrated below, along with Lune's own thoughts on the song.
"'Healing Song' is a metaphor and a peace. In the lyrics I find myself in a place I don’t wanna be, everything is not healing."
"At the end of the verse I choose the 'light' and accept the 'dark'..."
"...the wicked, and in that moment I break free (illustrating the break free by singing Ah ah ah ah ah ah in the drop)."
While it's the song that matters most, Lune is doing everything right in terms of making herself stand out in the crowded field of Nordic pop. This is definitely an artist to keep an eye on.
