Ludvig Moon go small-scale epic on the soaring "Cult Baby"
Norwegian six-piece Ludvig Moon have unveiled "Cult Baby" the first single - with accompanying video - from their forthcoming debut album.
Led by singer and guitarist Anders Magnor Killerud, the Oslo-based band released an EP back in 2014 via Trondheim's reliably excellent Riot Factory label and since then have been cultivating a stirring sound which promises to reach an apex on the band's debut album out later this year.
"Cult Baby" is the first track to be taken from that record and is described by Killerud as reflecting "the freedom and sense of adventure we felt whilst recording the album. We felt like we could do anything and everything we wanted to do, no holds barred. It was very important to me that this song became fun and uplifting musically, especially since the lyrics are very personal and direct."
With a video directed by former Team Me member Simen Skari it's appropriate that Ludvig Moon share the same wide-eyed and youthful, hopeful innocence of that band. The song lays hook upon hook, making the three and half minutes basically a series of wonderfully uplifting choruses as Killerud and fellow vocalist Lydia Popkema pile up the harmonies. Try as you might, you can't keep the smile off you're face.
"Cult Baby" is out 27 April via Riot Factory. Watch the video below
