Glaswegian upstarts LUCIA share seasonal love song “Summertime”
The indie rock group are the latest export from Glasgow’s re-energised guitar scene.
LUCIA combine bubblegum pop and garage rock swagger on latest release Summertime, a distinctly Scottish sounding anthem. Previous releases “Melted Ice-Cream” and Best Boy EP established LUCIA as a distinctly modern sounding band, drawing from a whole range of influences but operating instinctively rather than following fads.
Speaking about the new single front woman Lucia Fairfull explains, “'Summertime’ was influenced by classic love films and my years as a teenager. It comes across as a happy bubble-gum dream pop song showing my love 60s girl groups like ‘The Ronettes' and 'Lesley Gore', but the lyrics portray a more dark and grunge story of summer flings ending in broken hearts.”
