Lucia & The Best Boys pack a punch on “Good Girls Do Bad Things”
Formerly known as LUCIA, the newly rechristened Lucia & The Best Boys debut their new era with single “Good Girls Do Bad Things”.
Their sound may be speared by a streak of pop sentimentality, but for Glaswegian outfit Lucia & The Best Boys, such implied optimism is never a given. Inspired by a toxic relationship and a desire to reclaim self worth, the now-four piece crank it up to the next level with their comeback single “Good Girls Do Bad Things”.
Following in the wake of their Cheap Talk and Best Boy (yup, that’s where the new name came from!) EPs, their new release sees the band shift focus whilst reinvigorating their signature sound. A shameless amalgamation of rock and pop, Lucia & The Best Boys dive headfirst into their penchant for the 80s; taking inspiration from the likes of Madonna, New Order and Stevie Nicks, “Good Girls Do Bad Things” is an anthemic statement of intent. Spearheaded by Lucia Fairfull’s full throttle vocal and bolshy synth work, the track is a reclamation of empowerment for those who have “ever been undermined, or made to feel worthless or weak”.
“Some people don’t know how to act in situations where they’ve been messed around, and I feel bad for people who struggle with their self-confidence already and don’t know what to do,” shares Fairfull of the new single. “And, so, I wanted to write a song that wasn’t only for me but is dedicated to all women who feel like they’ve been put in positions like that, or where people have tried to ruin their self-worth or confidence and it’s had an impact on them.”
