LPX serves a curveball with her introspective new single “Delayed Gratification”
The MS MR vocalist and Neon Gold co-founder shares her new single today. She describes the song as “a soundtrack to the great pause we all find ourselves in.”
Taken from her forthcoming third EP, “Delayed Gratification” shows a side to LPX, aka Lizzy Plapinger, that we haven’t seen since her time in cult alt-pop duo MS MR.
For Plapinger, LPX’s home tends to be screaming down the mic, making manic punk, but here she’s exposing another side to her DIY aesthetic and embracing bedroom pop. The new single captures the same honesty Plapinger is so adept at harvesting with her songwriting, but instead to whacking the distortion up "Delayed Gratification" is intimate, warm, but still intensely purposeful.
In a post on Instagram, Plapinger notes ”if this song echoes your own impatience I hope it also provides the empathy and determination in building a life and a world of your own design, hopefully for the better.”
Initially, “Delayed Gratification” was to be released in line with tour dates supporting Maggie Rogers as well as Carly Rae Jepsen, which are now postponed due to the global pandemic.
