Lomelda achieve introspective simplicity on “Interstate Vision”
“Interstate Vision” is an exploration of memory, intimacy and the tragedies of distance.
DIY indie rock has experienced somewhat of a revival this year. Ditsy, personal, bedroom tracks are dominating the landscape and a band giving their two cents is Texas-based Lomelda, recent signings to Double Double Whammy Records. New cut ‘Interstate Vision’ is a combination of Southern-tinged country with sticky Brooklyn lo-fi guitars rounded off with a viscous vocal.

The song is decadently incongruous; the bright, spiralling guitars are tinged with gloominess, and frontwoman Hannah Read’s vocal is piercing throughout. Read and her troupe have managed to emerge with a sound that is emotional, personable and charmingly raw whilst remaining mature, focused and rooted in simple indie rock. You can’t ask for much more than that.
