Liverpool artist Marvin Powell unfurls tender folk number "Travelling On"
Liverpool-based singer/songwriter Marvin Powell is sharing "Travelling On", another richly textured folk ode.
Powell, the latest Skeleton Key (She Drew The Gun, Sundowners) signee, is following up is acclaimed debut collection Salt with new EP Wind Before The Train. James Skelly and Rich Turvey produce Powell's new short-player.
"Travelling On" is a staggering preview of the release that knocks the wind from your lungs. Delicate guitars bob and weave beneath Powell's bonfire-crackle voice, which steals the show on multiple occasions - his affecting coo is sodden with sincerity and genuine emotion.
"This is another 'get away' song that's had probably about three or four incarnations but was finished on the last tour I did," Powell explains. "Driving back from London there was an actual 'fire on the road', burning bright as the small car we were travelling in was making its way home after travelling half the country. I'd been playing around with this song for about five years not knowing myself what it was about, but setting out on tour seemed to make all the pieces fit together."
Powell plays Liverpool's Buyers Club on 8 September.
