Liv Dawson reveals new Guy Lawrence-produced single “Open Your Eyes”
As we edge closer to the end of the year, attention inevitably turns to potential stars of the future. And one 18 year old is staking a serious claim on that ever-cautionary but wholly justified ‘one to watch’ accolade.
Based in the suburban town of Shepperton, Liv Dawson has held our attention magically since she appeared with the stunning, Spotify-igniting "Tapestry" back in June, and the two tracks that quickly followed proved the debut was no fluke.
Now, the Method Records-signee has revealed a third cut from her debut EP, alongside news of a headline show at London’s new Omeara on 15 February.
And it’s another totally assured effort: with Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence behind the desk, Dawson’s honied vocal pours out above late-night, house-tinged production. Her knack for timeless pop melody continues to shine through too, as the chorus nods to 90s genre powerhouses, while still feeling pace-setting for the end of 2016.
"“Open Your Eyes” started out as a ballad", she explains. "Then I decided to ask Guy from Disclosure to put a beat behind it and he worked his magic. It's a love song, a song about trying to make your partner aware of things that are wrong in a relationship, before deciding to part ways."
Make no mistake, this is just the beginning of a very bright future for the talented newcomer; our eyes are well and truly open to Liv Dawson.
