Listen: Young Fathers – Deadline
As soon as you click that orange button on Young Fathers’ new track ‘Deadline’, you’re struck with a seemingly impossibility that’s been made true. They exemplify a baffling juxtaposition of just how to sound brash while at the same time melodic and accessible. Spawning from Edinburgh, the only mark the trio bears from their native Scotland is their economically-deprived alluding band name. ‘Deadline’ has much more in common with Californian rap-punk troupe Death Grips, which is just as well that they’ve been signed up by LA-based collective/label Anticon.
