Waylayers, an electronically-inclined East London trio, has enjoyed quite a bit of attention thanks to their debut EP Fault Lines, released last Summer. A year on, almost to coincide with their critically acclaimed debut, they unveil on Best Fit their latest single, “Take Hold”.
With musical aesthetics that mimic and spruce up 80s pop staples, the trio create an incredibly synth-friendly and atmospheric track. Focusing on one’s total abandonment into its lover’s desires, Waylayers masterfully create a lean pop gem made of relentless bass lines, sharp guitar riffs and crooning vocals.
“Take Hold” is out on Alcopop! Records, September 14.
