London’s Alessio Natalizia and Sam Willis return as Walls, releasing second album Coracle on September 26. The first single to come from the new album, ‘Sunporch’, builds up the kind of thoughtful ambience we’ve come to expect from the pair, as it pulses with laid-back beats, scattered with playful motifs and animal-like vocal howls.
Placing dance floor-ready throbbing synths under interesting acoustic-sounding percussion and hazy, organic-feeling sounds, the track builds an aural landscape of multiple layers, that often tricks your ears into believing they can hear birds and beasties, wind and trees.
The duo’s delicacy of touch is made clear in ‘Sunporch’, as they push the envelope in regards to the variety of sounds they use, with everything combining to create a slowly unveiling trippy swell instead of an incoherent mush. An enjoyable journey into the unknown, ‘Sunporch’ is released on August 29 on KOMPAKT.
