Southampton based multi-instrumentalist Chris Ward – aka Tropics – today announces his Home & Consonance EP, and from it shares the lead track.
Beginning with gentle electric piano chords and Ward’s mournful croon, ‘Home & Consonance’ steadily builds with brisk xylophone and freestyle live drums – adding an urgency to the songs underlying inherent sadness.
Tropics will head over to Austin later this month for a handful of showcases at SXSW. With further dates to be announced in due course, you can check out Ward’s expansive gloom pop at the following dates:
SXSW / March 2013
14 – Lamberts, 9pm
15 – The Old School, stage time TBA
The Home & Consonance EP is set to drop via Five Easy Pieces on 22 April.
