Listen: To Kill A King - "After The Gold Rush" [Premiere]
July 12 will see Neil Young & Crazy Horse take to Hyde Park as part of the Barclaycard British Summertime Series, with a hugely impressive starring cast - including The National, Caitlin Rose & Phosphorescent.
Joining them will be the London based folk five piece, To Kill A King. In anticipation of the show, they’ve cooked up this cover of the 1970 Young classic, “After The Gold Rush”. Backed merely by the band’s choral harmonies and a sparse cello line, it re-casts the warmth of the original into a new, delicate shape.
Lead vocalist Ralph Pelleymounte had this to say about the cover’s inspiration:
We are all huge fans of both the National and Neil Young so I think it’s a day we are going to really enjoy. I hope we’ve done the track a little justice, it’s a beautiful song.
