Throwing Snow’s cloudy, pixilated view of reality blows through like thick fog on his new single, ‘Aspera’. Intricately layered synths slink through dark hollowed vocal reverb, huddling close against sharp swooshing bursts and muted keyboard melodies. Chilly drum patterns beat against wind-tattered strings and chords all entwined like fine layers of mesh that blend into one thicker entity when pressed up against one another. Ross Tones, the producer behind the name Throwing Snow, is a pro at creating these abrupt, off-beat tempos that utilize gaps in a space, essentially creating a sound and mood out of thin air, tying in his signature snowy feel.
‘Aspera’ is the title track off Throwing Snow’s forthcoming EP dropping December 3 on his latest imprint Snowfall.
