Listen: The White Stripes reveal previously unreleased material
Even if a band breaks up, that doesn’t mean new material stops coming out – well that’s the route The White Stripes seem to have adopted anyway. Through his new record label, Third Man Records, Jack White has revealed two new tracks ‘Signed DC’ and ‘I’ve Been Loving You Too Long,’ originally recorded in 1966 by Love and Otis Redding respectively.
Recorded by the band in 1997, the year they formed, the covers see Jack’s vocals drift menacingly in the background whilst the instrumentals have been twisted into that undeniable scuzzy White Stripes aesthetic. Retaining the originality and freshness of Jack and Meg White’s earlier material, the songs were pressed onto 7″ for Third Man Record’s The Vault series and represent the first, in what Jack has said, will be a string of previously unheard releases from the duo.
